TRiO Program

Touching Lives Reaching Out Increasing Knowledge Open Doors

TRiO programs are designed to identify promising students, prepare them to do college level work, provide information on academic and financial aid opportunities and provide tutoring and support to students once they reach campus (Student Support Services) to ensure college retention and graduation.  As mandated by Congress, over two-thirds of the students served must come from families with incomes under $24,000 (family of four) and be first generation college students, where neither parent graduated from college.

TRiO counselors have an opportunity to work one-on-one with each student, and get to know them on a first-name basis.

TRiO counselors are personally committed to the success of their students.

Support Services helps students to stay in college until they earn their baccalaureate degree.  Participants, which include disabled college students, receive tutoring, counseling and remedial instruction.  Students are now being served at more than 1,200 Colleges and Universities nationwide.
