Outside Agency Scholarships

Many students receive scholarships from local, state or national organizations to help pay for the cost of college.  These organizations usually require scholarship funds be sent directly to the university or college.

Sending scholarship funds to TJC

Recipients, please provide this form to your donor:  Outside Scholarship Information Form

or

The donor can mail your scholarship check, made payable to Tyler Junior College, and a cover letter to:

                        Tyler Junior College
                        Scholarship Office
                        PO Box 9020
                        Tyler, TX  75711

The cover letter should include your name and TJC student ID or social security number and any instructions for disbursement.  It is also helpful to have your name and TJC student ID or social security number in the memo section of the check.  Some donors send checks co-payable to you and Tyler Junior College.  In this event, you will need to go to the Scholarship Office to endorse your check before it can be applied to your student account.  Checks made payable to Tyler Junior College on your behalf will allow us to process your scholarship funds more quickly.

Enrollment verification

Most donors will accept a print out of your class schedule or billing statement which you will be given upon class registration or will be available on Apache Access.  If a donor requires something sent directly from the College, contact the Scholarship Office, White Administrative Services Center, (903) 510-3234, or email us at bric@tjc.edu with the address of the donor and your name and TJC student ID or social security number.

Disbursement of scholarship funds

Scholarship funds will be placed on your student account and can be viewed on Apache Access by selecting Financial Aid under the Quick Links menu of the home page.  Notification will also be sent to your Apache Access E-mail account the day funds are placed on your account.  All scholarships will be disbursed according to the guidelines received from the awarding organization.  If there are no guidelines, funds will be applied to your tuition and fees, housing, meals and books in that order.  If you are allowed to receive any remaining scholarship funds, those funds will be disbursed to your Higher One account according to the Financial Aid - Funds Release Dates.  If funds are not allowed to be released, they will be moved to the next semester or returned to the awarding organization.
