Scholarship

Tyler Junior College invites you to apply for funding assistance through our scholarship program.  A limited number of Tyler Junior College funded and endowed scholarships and grants are available. A student can apply for scholarships through one basic application.  The Scholarship Application Deadline for the 2008-2009 academic year is March 1, 2008.  (We will accept applications at any time during the academic year. However, we recommend that you submit your application by the priority deadline to give yourself the best opportunity for consideration.)

The application is available by calling the Scholarship Office at 903-510-3234 or by downloading below.  A specific listing of all available scholarships is contained in our school catalog, which can be obtained by calling the Admissions Office at 903-510-2523. Presidential Scholarship Program -Tyler Junior College's most prestigious academic award!
  • Incoming Freshmen Only
  • $2,000/yr for two years
  • Testing Requirements:
  • Minimum SAT � 1070 with a 500 each in math and verbal
  • Minimum ACT � 23 with a 19 each in English and math
  • Applicants must show academic leadership, extra-curricular and/or community involvement.
  • Interested applicants will need to fill out the Tyler Junior College Freshman Scholarship Application as soon as possible.  Although the official application deadline is March 1, the award process for this scholarship does start earlier in the year.  The application should include a recent copy of the high school transcript showing SAT and/or ACT scores.
Dean's Scholarship Program
  • Incoming Freshmen Only
  • $1,000/yr for two years
  • Testing Requirements:

The Faulconer Scholarship
(Recipients are funded and chosen by the Faulconer Scholarship Program)

The Faulconer Scholarship is awarded to highly motivated African-American and Hispanic-American students who have a strong desire to advance themselves through higher education. Scholarship recipients receive up to 5 years of financial support while they work toward a bachelor's degree. Faulconer Scholars are required to attend Tyler Junior College for their first two years ($3,000/year). Following that,  Faulconer Scholarship recipients may transfer to any college or university in Texas where they will receive $6,000 per year for up to three more years while completing their undergraduate degree.

  • Applicants must live in the Tyler Junior College District which includes the Independent School Districts in Chapel Hill, Grand Saline, Lindale, Tyler, Van and Winona, Texas.
  • Must be a (high school) graduating senior.
  • Must have maintained a 2.5 GPA.
  • Must be African-American or Hispanic-American
  • Please note the application process for this scholarship has changed.  Interested applicants will need to follow the Faulconer Program Scholarship Application process at www.faulconerscholars.org and return it to the address indicated on the website by March 1.
General Scholarships
  • Both Freshmen and Continuing Students are Eligible to Apply
  • Tyler Junior College has several general scholarships that are awarded to students for many combinations of these attributes: academic merit, leadership, need, choice of study, and other factors.  Some need-based scholarships require the processing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  General scholarships are awarded one academic year at a time.  To apply for these scholarships, a student must fill out the Tyler Junior College Scholarship Application and return it with a high school and/or college transcripts to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office by March 1.  ACT/SAT scores are not required for these scholarships.
Performance Grants for Athletics and Performing Arts
  • Performance Grants are given to students involved in a fine/performing art or an athletic program at Tyler Junior College.  TJC fine/performing art programs include:  visual art, theatre, the Apache Band, the Apache Belles, Harmony & Understanding, and the
  • A cappella Choir.  Athletic performance grants include:  football, men�s and women�s basketball, men�s soccer, men�s and women�s tennis, women�s volleyball, men�s and women�s golf, and the athletic trainer program.  Performance grants are also available to students interested in cheerleading and student government.
  • Students will need to contact the individual program directors and coaches to obtain information about the performance grants available in their particular area of interest.  Please see links below.
  • Performance Grants do not require a scholarship application.
