Apache Orientation

REGISTRATION FOR ORIENTATION IS CLOSED

Congratulations on your selection of Tyler Junior College to continue your educational pursuits. Your collegiate career will be filled with the prospect for intellectual, personal and social growth. All of us at TJC stand ready and anxious to help as you enter this new period of your life.

At Tyler Junior College, we’re committed to Three Promises: a quality education; a vibrant student life; and community service. You will hear more about these commitments during Orientation and as you continue your studies at TJC.

Orientation is mandatory for new students with fewer than 15 college credit hours. Students who do not attend an Orientation session during the summer will register for a 5-week class as part of their first semester.

We feel it is important for students new to college life to set goals, identify resources, learn good study habits and receive the best possible career and academic advice. Orientation provides these resources for you and it does it best as a summer session, when you are able to register for your first semester with the help of a trained professional.

I wish you all the best, and I look forward to seeing you on campus.

-- Dr. L. Michael Metke, President

Feeling a little anxious about leaving home for college?

A TJC Apache Orientation session can ease your fears and give you a head start on the college experience.

Participating in Apache Orientation gives you a head-start on college. You'll see an advisor and register for classes for your first semester at TJC. You'll also become familiar with the campus and make new friends. Parents are encouraged to attend the first day of orientation activities. Our "Fast Facts: What All TJC Students and Parents Should Know" and "Parent Q&A" sessions will provide valuable information.

By participating in Orientation, you are on your way to joining the Tyler Junior College family of some 100,000 alumni, a current student body of nearly 10,000 and a    faculty and staff of more than 1,000 strong. Be sure to fill out an Apache Orientation Registration Form. Remember, acceptance to attend Apache Orientation does not constitute acceptance to Tyler Junior College.  You must submit a separate admissions application and supply the required supplemental information.

Throughout your orientation process, the Apache Orientation team stands ready to help you have fun, make new friends and get a head start on college.
