Greeting to the Student: Welcome to the world of nursing. It consists of many different facets. It requires you to apply theoretical concepts to various client situations and to multitask. It requires you to maintain your competency in skills/practice and new technology that is constantly emerging. Privacy, confidentiality and safety considerations are important concerns when dealing with clients. Last but not least, is following the practice of nursing according to the guidelines in the Nurse Practice Act. Teaching Philosophy: My philosophy is a hands on approach. Certainly this is important with skills but also with client care. Learning the theory is important and you must be able to apply it in nursing. Following guidelines for practice with safety in mind, is imperative in today’s world. Statement of usual method of evaluation of students (number of tests, essay paper, book reviews, etc): RNSG 1513 Foundations: 4 exams and a final. RNSG 1260 Clinical: Care plans, performance of skills in lab & clinical areas, performance according to evaluation in course outline. RNSG 1146 Legal & Ethical Nursing: 2 exams, 1 paper on an ethical issue & a final.
