Medical Laboratory Technology Program Philosophy
The Medical Technology faculty is abiding by the philosophy of college endeavors to stimulate thought, to promote effective communication, develop marketable skills, knowledge and understanding, and assist in the formulation of idealistic goals. These objectives are attained by providing our students with a two-year associate degree program.
The Medical Technology faculty has set as its objectives the following educational, environmental, and social goals:
Educational
- To respond effectively to the needs of the job market by preparing qualified graduates with higher order thinking skills
- To provide qualified training in medical technology and provide retraining for people whose job skills are outdated
- To provide graduates with marketable skills and job entry proficiencies which will demonstrate the quality in our educational system
- To provide an innovative and stimulating process of instruction by incorporating the latest theories and/or procedures in all courses. The faculty strives for excellence by participating in professional development activities when resources allow
Environmental
- To maintain a climate of mutual trust and respect among students, faculty and administration as well as to create a climate wherein students and faculty easily and informally discuss ideas and interests
- To create an atmosphere of cooperation, respect, dignity and equality which transcends racial, ethnic, cultural and global boundaries
- To guide students toward accepting responsibility for their actions in all aspects of life including self-directed learning
Personal and Social
- To help students improve their sense of self-worth and self-confidence and to instill a sense of commitment to life-long learning
- To encourage concern for the welfare of mankind as individuals and society as a whole
