With the completion of the Tyler Junior College Botanical Gardens, visitors will be offered yet another major attraction that will showcase the diversity, breadth and color of the East Texas landscape while featuring garden specimens unique to the area. Nationally renowned landscape architect Naud Burnett has created seven new designs that will transform the TJC campus into a series of educational gardens. The Gardens will become an educational attraction for East Texas. As part of the College's Master Plan, the Tyler Junior College Botanical Gardens will be first and foremost a place for education, providing the basis for horticulture courses in continuing education and through the College's department of life sciences and agriculture. For students and visitors, the Gardens will promote appreciation, understanding and stewardship of our environment, while creating several new and diverse event spaces. These gathering areas will enhance student life on campus and provide ideal settings for community activities such as outdoor festivals, concerts and exhibits. The Gardens will become a student and community respite for leisure and relaxation. The completion of the Tyler Junior College Botanical Gardens will depend completely on funding from individuals and private organizations. Your gift will help TJC create a veritable resource of education and enjoyment for students, teachers and visitors from all areas. The Gardens will enhance the quality of life for all. You can help us leave a living legacy for generations to come! For further information on the Gardens and naming opportunities, please contact the Tyler Junior College Foundation at (903) 510-2382 or ksmi@tjc.edu.
