Steps to Get Financial Aid at TJC

  • These steps are a general guideline.

  • The process typically takes 2 to 3 months to complete.

  • Your Financial Aid process may include more steps or less, depending on your eligibility and when you begin the process.

STEP 1: Students file FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
STEP 2: Students will receive a letter from Tyler Junior College directing them to Apache Access to click on Financial Aid in Quick Links, then First Step in TJC Financial Aid Process.
STEP 3: Students must access the website, respond to questions on the screen and click on submit, the student will then be notified of documents to turn in, if any.  Note: not all students will not have to turn in forms.
STEP 4: If documents are necessary, the student should download institutional documents via Apache Access by clicking the links as follows: Financial Aid, General Financial Aid, Download Forms. The student and parent, if necessary, should complete the forms and turn them into the financial aid office.
STEP 5: All students should periodically log into Apache Access to check for recently requested documentation or to see if they have been awarded.  Students must accept or decline student loans that will be offered to all students at maximum eligibility.
