Can A Woman? - EYH Poem

"I just can't do it,"
the little girl said,
"Math and science just
aren't in my head."

"Everyone knows it,
where have you been?
Doctors, mathematicians, scientists
are all just men."

"Girls just do "girl" things
that are cuddly and nice.
Their hands can't get dirty.
They're sweet kind and quiet."

I'll agree with the sweetness
The kindness and peace.
And having clean hands
Can often be neat.

But girls can't do math?
They can't add and subtract?
That the table of elements
Is a seldom known fact?

If you believed this
You wouldn't be here.
You would not be a
Role Model Volunteer.

You wouldn't be here
to open new doors.
presenting opportunities
not offered before.

For this is the chance
to lift up our voices.
And Expand their Horizons
with a rainbow of choices.
