Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Registration
Step 1 The Admissions Office in the White Administrative Service Center will be happy to help you with each step of the application process. This office can provide you with an application, a catalog, and a schedule of classes. Tours of the campus are available, as well as advisement from admissions counselors. All application materials will need to be returned to this office. The materials needed to complete your admission file are:
- A completed free application for admission
- An official high school transcript or a GED score report
- An official transcript from any other college you may have attended
- Scores from tests taken (ACT, SAT, THEA)
Step 2 If you have taken the THEA test or are THEA waived or exempt, please proceed to Step 3. The state of Texas mandates that all students entering a public state supported institution must take the THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment) or an approved alternative test before they are allowed to enroll. Accuplacer is the alternative test that is available on the TJC campus. The Accuplacer is conveniently given at the Testing Center on the 2nd floor of the Rogers Student Center. The test is given Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am -4:00 pm, on Fridays from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am -11:00 am. The fee is $15 and can be paid at the Cashier’s Office in WASC and in the Rogers Testing Center. Please call 903.510.2617 for more details. Practice tests are strongly recommended to students taking the TASP or Accuplacer Test. Practice tests can accessed at www.THEA.NESINC.COM for free. Step 3 Financial Aid is available for those who would like to apply. Students will need to visit or call the Financial Aid Office to receive scholarship applications and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The Financial Aid Office is located in the WASC can be reached at 903.510.2385. Step 4 You will need to visit with an academic advisor in the area of your major. The Admissions, Registrar’s and dean’s offices can help you find someone to speak with. This visit must take place before you register. A visit with an academic advisor is very beneficial and will give you information on the following: - Choosing a major & designing a degree plan
- Transfer work
- Campus resources
- Choosing courses for the upcoming semester & the registration process
The academic advisor is the only one able to program the registration system to allow you to register for your first semester. Step 5 A current class schedule will give you the dates and methods for registering for your chosen classes. If you need assistance with registration, you may visit the Registrar’s Office in the WASC or contact them by phone at 903.510.2404. Step 6 Once you have registered for your classes and received a “paid receipt”, you may obtain a parking permit and a student I.D. Both of these can be received at regular walk-in registration. The parking permit can also be obtained from the Campus Safety department, and the student I.D. card can be obtained in the 3rd floor Pirtle Technology computer lab. |
