Can I audit a Continuing Education class?
Continuing Education classes may not be audited.

When is registration for Continuing Education classes?
You may register at any time in person, by phone, by fax or online. To help avoid class cancellations, please register at least one week before the starting date.

Can I get financial aid to take a Continuing Education course?
Most CE courses are not eligible for financial aid. However, certain programs with tuition more than $1,000.00 may qualify for individual personal loans. In addition, some students may qualify for assistance from the Texas Workforce Commission to participate in approved courses. For more information, contact your local Workforce Center.

I’m a veteran. Can I get financial aid?
Texas veterans who have exhausted their educational benefits may attend Tyler Junior College under the Hazlewood Act. They may be exempt from tuition and fees (for state-funded courses only) if they meet all the following requirements:

  1. Currently a Texas resident.
  2. A Texas resident at the time of entrance into the service.
  3. Have an honorable discharge.
  4. Have a copy of discharge papers (DD 214) on file in financial services office.
  5. Proof that all other federal assistance funds have been exhausted.

Hazlewood exemptions cover tuition and fees only. Textbook and supply costs are the responsibility of the student.

Can I use the Vaughn Library if I’m a CE student?
Continuing Education students may have full access to the Tyler Junior College Vaughn Library by obtaining a Library Courtesy Card. Simply fill out an application (available in the Continuing Education offices on the college’s West Campus). When you present your completed application to the library circulation desk, along with a current government-issued photo ID, you will receive your courtesy card at that time at no cost to you. Courtesy cards are good for 6 months.

Who do I contact if I have a complaint?
If complaints regarding a Continuing Education class arise or to appeal a student dismissal from any Continuing Education course , contact and/or submit a written statement to the Operations Director in the administrative offices on the West Campus within 10 days.

Parking Permits
Parking Permits are required. Make sure you have received one at either campus before attending class.

Can I get college credit for taking a Continuing Education course?
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are a nationally recognized measure of skills or work-related training gained in a continuing education course that meets established criteria. One CEU represents 10 class hours of participation in courses so designed. Continuing Education courses do not earn academic credit.

A Continuing Education CEU transcript may be requested from the registrar’s office at no charge.

Reprints of CE certificates are available for $5.

What is the refund policy?
Refunds may be requested in the Continuing Education offices on the TJC West Campus.*

The College refund policy is:

  • 100% prior to the first class day
  • 100% if class is cancelled by the College
  • 80% during the first class day
  • None thereafter
Please note: Refund checks are issued in the payor and student’s names but mailed to the student’s permanent address within 2–4 weeks.

*Some class trips may not follow this refund schedule. Please see class trip/course description for modified refund policies.

Where do I buy my textbook?
New and used textbooks may be purchased at the Tyler Junior College Bookstore located on the lower level of the Rogers Student Center. The bookstore is open Monday, 8 a.m.–7 p.m.; Tuesday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.; and Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The bookstore is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. These are the TJC Bookstore regular business hours. At the start and end of the semesters there will be additional hours. For more information, contact the bookstore at 903–510–2522.
