My reputation among students is that of an instructor that talks rather than lectures, someone who challenges without being overbearing, someone who creates a relaxed learning environment where questions and laughter are encouraged, and someone who exhibits fairness and respect to the students. Teaching Philosophy:
Teaching in the business area represents a “rational, real-life” orientation… not a philosophical orientation! The major message to my students is that learning requires energetic participation and a lifetime commitment. As the instructor I have to model energy in the classroom and challenge students to “stretch their perceptions and knowledge.” Teaching should create a foundation for lifetime learning, not a memorization of information that is promptly forgotten at the conclusion of the semester.
