Institution and year: Texas A&M University 2003 Course Teachings: Financial Accounting, Introduction to Business Number of Years at TJC: 1st Teaching Philosophy: My goal is for my students to be as prepared for the real world as possible. Team work is essential as well as interactive discussion in my class. I don’t want to be the only one talking! I want to encourage my students to think and be able to apply what they learn in my classroom to their job environment, whether it is next week or several years down the road. I will be bringing current news into the classroom that discusses what you are actually learning so that you can see that this is not just “a bunch of theory you have no use for.” Greeting to Students: I am so excited to be a part of this institution! I can’t wait to get to know each one of you and hopefully teach you enough to make you realize that the business world is a fun and exciting place! Accounting is not just a bunch of numbers and accountants are by no means just “bean counters.” There have been so many changes in the business world that affect your daily life. I don’t plan on being the only one talking the whole class time so come prepared to discuss real world happenings in class. Statement of usual method of evaluation of students (number of tests, essay paper, book reviews, etc.): Your grade will consists of homework assignments, quizzes, 3 regular exams, a comprehensive final exam, and a group project.
