Available Testing - GED
Tyler Junior College is a testing center for the G. E. D., which is administered at the TJC West Campus (Tyler, Texas).
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The GED testing changed (state and national change), as of January 2002. All those who had not completed and passed their GED by Dec 19, 2001 must retake all tests. No incomplete GED test will be carried forth. Call the GED number for more information (903) 510-2913.
GED DATES: Every Thursday, 7:45 am - 5pm & Every 4th Saturday of each month, 7:45 am - 5pm (except when Tyler Junior College is closed) Contact our office for details (903) 510-2913. Some of your questions are answered below.
Registration Registration is at 7:45 am each Thursday and every fourth Saturday government issued drivers license, ID card or passport (no temporary) and Social Security card must be presented on the day of testing. If official G.E.D. testing has been started at another location, an official copy of the prior test scores must be presented at the time of registration. Testing starts immediately following registration. Testing is from 8:15 am to 5:00 pm.
Fees All GED tests in 2005-2006 will be $60.00 for all parts in the GED battery. Please call for details.
Transcripts Transcripts of G.E.D. records may be secured from Texas Education Agency, Austin, Texas or by calling (512) 463-9292
GED Study Classes Call the Literacy Council at (903) 510-2939 for class information. It is not necessary to take classes but classes would help better prepare for the G.E.D. test.
Notice to 16 & 17 year old students
- 16 year old students: Must have a court order with case number on court letterhead and parental consent form with withdraw form on the back.
- 17-year-old students: Must have parent consent form with withdraw form on the back.

Special Notice! GED test dates and times will be provided in the future. If you are 18 years old or older, bring $60 (each of five subject areas - test or retest - costs $10 per test plus a one time GED certificate fee of $10), a government issued photo I.D. and your Social Security Card. Cash is acceptable but check or money order preferred.
If you are 17 years old, also bring your High School Withdrawal Form and a letter of permission from your parent.
