Teaching Philosophy: I believe that students are ultimately responsible for their own education, and that students that are not willing to learn will typically be very difficult to teach. That being said, I believe that teachers are obligated to do everything in their power to create a positive learning environment that combats apathy and compels students to learn. With the exception of students that simply aren’t willing to do the work required to learn, I look at failures of my students as failures of my teaching ability or effort. To prevent such failures, I believe it is the obligation of every teacher at every level to present material in a manner that is as receivable as possible to the students who will be taught, to attempt to inspire and motivate students, and to offer as much time and help to students as they are willing to spend learning.
