New Student Advising Process

1. Submit the following to the admissions office in the White Administrative Services Center:

• A completed admissions application. (Applications are in the back of the College Catalog.)
• Official high school transcript or GED score report.
• Test scores (i.e., THEA, ACT, SAT) if not listed on the high school transcript.

2. Pick up a Registration Guide in the Registrar’s office in the White Administrative Services Center.

3. Determine THEA status:

• If THEA taken; *THEA exempt; or **THEA waived, go to step 4.
• If THEA has not been taken, go to the Testing Center (second floor of Rogers Student Center) to take the ACCUPLACER (This is an alternative test to THEA—allow five hours to test. There is a fee of $15 that needs to be paid in the cashier’s office before testing.)

4. Meet with an Academic Advisor after receiving test scores:

• An advisor helps students with the following:
• • Interpretation of test scores
  • Selecting a Major
  • Degree Plan and transfer information
  • Course selection
  • Information on campus resources
  • Information on the registration process.

5. Consult a current Registration Guide for course selections and to determine registration dates and times.

6. Register online in Apache Access.

* Determined when an application is received. THEA status is based upon college credit prior to Fall of 1989, or scores from one of the following tests: ACT, SAT or TAAS. Students who are exempt from THEA may still be required to take part of the ACCUPLACER. See the registrar’s office or an advisor for verification of THEA status.
