Policies

Missed classes may be made up in a comparable or lower-level class at any time; ask your instructor as to which class to attend. Make-up classes for missed or canceled classes may be taken at any time during the session, but makeup classes cannot be “rolled over” into a future semester. Making up missed classes is optional. There are no refunds for missed classes, regardless of the circumstances. Students who discontinue attendance at classes enrolled may not transfer their enrollment to another student, nor are there refunds for non-attendance. In case of classes canceled due to instructor illness or threatening weather, it shall be at the instructor’s discretion to schedule an extra make-up class, or to have students attend another class already in session. Classes canceled because of production week for Nutcracker in the fall term, or Dancefest in the spring term or other such performances may be made up by students in regularly scheduled classes before or after they are missed. No extra classes will be scheduled.

Please be sure all students utilize the bathroom just prior to entering the classroom. This is especially important for younger students.

At the Creative Movement, Prep I & II levels nothing else aside from the above is allowed to be worn in class.

PARKING PERMITS AND HPE BUILDING ENTRANCE RULES

PRIORITY

Temporary parking permits for classes located in the Health and Physical Education Building (HPE) and Fine Arts Building are mailed out when registrations are received

– register through RTDC and ask for your permit at that time. The HPE Building requires a green ID admittance card for dance classes offered there. These will be given out during the first week of classes ONLY to students whose names appear on our class roster. If you have not yet enrolled, you will not receive a new ID card, and will not be allowed to enter HPE. An expired card from a previous semester will not be accepted. Staff at the front desk of HPE will also have a list of enrolled students. Therefore it is important you enroll before the first day of classes.

WAITING AREA & CLASS OBSERVATION RULES

Persons accompanying students to class should wait outside the classroom, either in Room 102 in Fine Arts or in the common areas of the HPE building.

Parents and friends are not permitted to watch classes from inside the studios except during designated Observation Weeks at the end of each semester.

Waiver & Release

Our policies have been established to create a safe and effective learning environment for all students. It is important all involved in the Academy of Dance at TJC understand and abide by these policies. Therefore it is required that parents/guardians sign and date the waiver and release form included in the registration packet, and return the form to your instructor before attending your first class or mail it to the Director's attention at TJC. Failure to return this waiver with your application may delay or invalidate your enrollment in the program. A late fee may be assessed for registrations received after the start date of the entire class session.

Tyler Junior College gives equal consideration to all applicants for admission, employment and participation in its programs and activities without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, gender, age, marital status, disability or veteran status.
