Important Dance Dates

Dear Dancer,

Welcome back to the 2008-2009 school year!  I hope you all had an enjoyable summer.  The TJC Academy of Dance will celebrate the 20^th anniversary of The Nutcracker in collaboration with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra.  There will be two school shows are December 5^th and two public performances December 6^th.  All performances will be located at the UT Tyler Cowan Center.  This is truly a historic event for TJC students, parents, and the East Texas Community and we look forward to sharing this special occasion with you.

This year your dancer will be placed in level.  Therefore he/she may register for any classes offered at that level. In order to build strength and technique and to improve and progress at an adequate rate AI classes are required to meet twice a week and BIII, CI, CII, & D levels are required to meet three times a week.  You can call the West Campus at 510-2900 to register for classes starting August 1^st.    Fall classes begin August 11^th please refer to the enclosed brochure for times and locations.

If you register for three days a week you are eligible for a $50.00 discount, please ask when you call to register.  Please register for classes before August 11^th to guarantee placement.

Nutcracker auditions will be held on September 6^th 2008 starting at 10am in HPE 125 (dance studio.)

10-10:45am ages 6-8

11-12pm ages 9-12

12:15-1:45pm ages 13-18 with pointe experience

2-3pm ages 13-18 & adults

 Performance dates are December 6^th, 2008

Dancefest is scheduled for May 1^st & 2^nd, 2009

Important Dates and Holidays for the 2008 and 2009 calendar are as follows:

*September 1^st Labor Day

*November 26-30^th (Thanksgiving)

*No classes December 1^st – 5^th due to “Nutcracker”

*Observation week is December 8^th – 11^th  

*Classes resume January 12^th 

*January 19^th Martin Luther King Day                   

*Spring Break March 9^th – 13^th 

*No classes April 27^th – 30^th due to “Dancefest” 2009

*Observation week is May 18^th – 21^st
