Important Dance Dates

Dear Dancer,
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year and I hope you all have an enjoyable summer.  The Academy of Dance is pleased to announce Ashlee Persing as Ballet Master.  She will begin duties August 1st.  As I begin my new duties as Interim Director of Fine & Performing Arts, I will still serve as the Director of the Academy; however the day to day responsibilities will fall under Ashlee.  I encourage you to contact her with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year.  I have every confidence in Ashlee’s teaching and administrative duties and I ask for your support and trust in Ashlee as you have done for me. Ashlee and I will work very closely to keep providing professional instruction and performance experiences for each and every dancer.  We would also like to extend a warm welcome to the faculty and students from Ballet Tyler.  Please make every effort to make them feel at home.

This year your dancer will be placed in level Hip Hop Beginning.  Therefore he/she may register for any classes offered at that level. In order to build strength and technique and to improve and progress at an adequate rate AI classes are required to meet twice a week and BIII, CI, CII, & D levels are required to meet three times a week.  You can call the West Campus at 510-2900 to register for classes starting July 15th.  Fall classes begin August 10th please refer to the enclosed brochure for times and locations.

If you register for three days a week you are eligible for a $50.00 discount, please ask when you call to register.  Please register for classes before August 10th to guarantee placement.

Nutcracker auditions will be held on September 12th 2009 starting at 10am in HPE 125 (dance studio.)

10-10:45am ages 6-8
11-12pm ages 9-12
12:15-1:45pm ages 13-18 with pointe experience
2-3pm ages 13-18 & adults
 Performance dates are December 4th-6th, 2009
Dancefest is scheduled for April 30th & May 1st, 2010

Important Dates and Holidays for the 2009 and 2010 calendar are as follows:
*September 7th Labor Day
*November 25th -29th (Thanksgiving)
*No classes November 30th – December 4th due to “Nutcracker”
*Observation week is December 7th – 10th

*Classes resume January 11th
*January 18th Martin Luther King Day
*Spring Break March 8th – 12th
*No classes April 26th – 30th due to “Dancefest” 2010
*Observation week is May 24th – 27th
